Ron Sperano, Ph.D.

Ronald P. Sperano, Ph.D. is responsible for worldwide marketing initiatives and strategy development for IBM’s wireless initiatives for the IEEE 802.11 wireless local area network (WLAN) specifications along with Bluetooth personal area network (PAN) products. Bluetooth is a low power, short-range RF technology designed to replace peripheral cables. Prior to his current position, Dr. Sperano was the worldwide Marketing Manager for the Ultraportable segment of the notebook computer market responsible for the conception, development introduction and launch of many of the IBM ThinkPad products. Dr. Sperano began his career at IBM 29 years ago as a Systems Engineer. He holds a BBA in Accounting, a MBA in Marketing and a Ph.D. in Computer Technology in Education.
