Fredda Brown

Fredda Herz Brown, PhD, is a pioneer in the field of family enterprise. Her numerous contributions over a quarter century have helped to establish standards of professional practice and develop the body of knowledge that defines the work of the field to this day.

Among her numerous academic appointments over the years, she continues as a guest lecturer for the MBA program at Columbia University. Fredda's distinguished career accomplishments have been honored by awards from the Family Office Exchange and the Family Firm Institute, where she is a Fellow and founding board member. She holds a PhD and Master’s Degree in Psychology.

She is author of the new book The Essential Roadmap: Navigating Family Enterprise Sustainability in a Changing World. She is also co-author of the highly acclaimed and innovative The Family Wealth Sustainability Toolkit. Combining an online index with a book the toolkit provides an innovative way for wealthy individuals, family offices, and the financial planners, advisors, and wealth managers who counsel them to better assess their wealth sustainability skills.

Dr. Fredda Herz Brown is also the author of Reweaving the Family Tapestry, which encapsulated her model for understanding and working with families as they evolve through their life cycles. She has authored many articles, which demonstrate her thought leadership in the field. She has served as a mentor to many young consultants and family enterprise scholars who seek to develop both new ideas and their own consultative capabilities.
