The Benefits of Spring Break

Nancy Michaels

Have map will travel. These three trips I decided to go on these past couple of weeks to NYC, Chicago and Ft. Lauderdale came up within less than three weeks of my booking my tickets. Each trip made sense for different reasons related to re-connecting with clients, seeking out quality prospects and planting seeds where I want them to grow in the future. It all made sense from a short- and long-term business opportunity. Are you making decisions that have immediate as well as future benefits to you and your company? Ask yourself the following questions about how you could do that more effectively.

It's ok to take a break.

Work hard, play hard has been my motto and I'm sticking to it. You have to have fun in life, love, and in business. If you're not, it becomes drudgery and causes you to procrastinate on the less than desirable tasks that are still necessary. It was also wonderful to travel with my team - as it makes business turn to pleasure every time. Liz and Robin also were helpful in logistics at a trade show, a client meeting and a business luncheon I have been invited to speak at next year. They're competent at the follow-up and details to make sure all goes smoothly and that takes a huge burden off of me and makes us all feel part of the team.

What are you doing to prioritize the way you spend your precious time?

A dear friend and colleague of mine, Fabienne Frederickson, did a call with me last week (
LISTEN HERE) to promote an upcoming workship of hers in Los Angeles this month, and we are both in agreement that you, as the owner of your company and captain of your ship, should be focused only on revenue-producing activities that you love to do. Period. It really is that simple. Delegate and hire your weaknesses and stay continually focused on what you do best. High-level networking with key decision makers, prospects and clients - even in remote locations - is time well spent, in my book.

Find a mentor or a coach you can believe in.

If Tiger Woods gets coached - why shouldn't we all? It keeps you focused, on track, and constantly reaching your goals. Due to popular demand and several requests, Liz has convinced me to make myself available to my subscribers who are in need of a marketing fix. For the first time ever, we've created an affordable way to access me directly as you need it. We're calling it our Marketing ER program - designed for you to take advantage of running an idea, concept, proposal, program, direct mail piece, or professional dilemma by someone who's been there, done that. It's my goal to be a trusted resource, advisor and mentor to many of you who have a desire for the information I can provide you and take years off your learning curve.

We'll be promoting it in future e-zines as well, however, if you can't wait to get more information, contact Liz Laughlin - only 100 people will be allowed to get in on the Marketing ER program this Spring because I'm at capacity on other client projects I'm working on.

Plan your down time when traveling for business as well. You'll come back with new and exciting ideas to implement in your business and the time you spend re-connecting or making introductions to prospects and future business opportunities will help you today and tomorrow.
