Wink Martindale

In the history of televised game shows no name is more synonymous with "host" than Wink Martindale, the man who has guided nineteen game shows. Before TV there was radio. Martindale was auditioned and hired to work for WPLI at the tender age of seventeen. Over the next two years, Martindale graduated to ever larger stations, including the station of his dreams, WHBQ in Memphis, which he had listened to as a teenager. He hosted the station's popular morning show CLOCKWATCHERS, while attaining a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Memphis. In LA., Martindale carved a place for himself as one of the city's most popular personalities, with successful radio programs on KRLA, KFWB, and KMPC, and TV shows on KHJ and KTLA. Martindale has hosted an impressive array of shows, including "Can You Top This," "Trivial Pursuit," and popular favorites such as "Gambit," "Tic-Tac-Dough" and "High Rollers." In 1985 he added the title of "producer" to his resume with the syndicated "Headline Chasers," in association with Merv Griffin and KingWorld, and has since produced several real-time interactive shows for The Family Channel, including "Boggle" and "Jumble," among others.
