Sylvia Burns

Sylvia Wu Burns is the Director of E-Business Development for the Department of Commerce's U.S. Commercial Service. Under her leadership The Northern Virginia office has spearheaded several high-tech services for the Commercial Service, including a virtual trade show, video meeting services, and a series of webcast seminars. Sylvia also served in the Commerce Department’s Washington, DC headquarters operations as an International Trade Specialist with the Office of Domestic Operations of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service. She helped to establish Commerce’s new domestic field network of 19 U.s. Export Assistance Centers nationwide through her work in strategic planning, performance measures and technology initiatives. Sylvia earned her master’s degree in Business Management and Policy from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and began her career with the Commerce Department as a U. S. presidential Management Intern, an executive management training program within the U.S. government.
