Jim
Blasingame Is The founder and host of The Small Business Advocate Show, Jim Blasingame, has been named to Fortune Small Business magazine’s POWER 30. The POWER 30 is FSB's list of the most influential people representing small business, inside and outside of Washington, D.C. The author of Small Business Is Like A Bunch Of Bananas, and the 2002 Small Business Journalist of the Year, Blasingame was the only broadcaster on the list, which is heavy on small business lobbyists, trade group representatives, politicians, and SBA staff. According to Maggie Overfelt, FSB's reporter and developer of the list, "We felt Jim's long term commitment to covering small business public policy issues on a regular basis definitely made him a worthy member of the POWER 30." Nationally syndicated on radio and simulcast on the Internet, broadcasting live Monday-Friday from 6-9am EDT, The Small Business Advocate Show features interviews with hundreds of small business experts Blasingame calls The Small Business Advocate Brain Trust. Topics include the full spectrum of small business fundamentals and, of course, several shows each month focused on small business public policy issues. "I'm honored to be recognized by Fortune Small Business Magazine, and to be associated with such a distinguished group of people who care about small business." Blasingame said, "When we started The Small Business Advocate Show in November, 1997," Blasingame continued, "we had two programming goals: First, to deliver the experts to talk about small business fundamentals that would help entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses successfully. Second, to report and discuss the public policy issues that affect small business, which are being considered and implemented by the federal government and its agencies." Blasingame added, "After thousands of interviews with the hundreds of members of our Brain Trust, and with recognition like being included in FSB's POWER 30, I believe we can say we've made progress toward our goals. But there is still much work to be done on behalf of small business." The Small Business Advocate Show is the only nationally syndicated weekday talk show that is dedicated to small business. In addition to radio syndication, SmallBusinessAdvocate.com features the program in a Live Internet simulcast, plus two on-demand options: a daily Replay, and hundreds of searchable Archives. Blasingame also writes and publishes a free newsletter, The Small Business Advocate NEWSLETTER. Other members of the POWER 30 who are also members of The Small Business Advocate Brain Trust include: Karen Kerrigan, Chairman of the Small Business Survival Committee, Jonathan Zuck, President of The Association of Competitive Technologies, and Jack Faris, President of The National Federation of Independent Businesses. |
