Washington, D.C.

Nationally syndicated radio/Internet talk show host Jim Blasingame has been honored as small business “Advocate of the Month” for April 2005 for his outstanding commitment to America’s small business and entrepreneurial sector. The award was given by the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council), an advocacy organization devoted to protecting small business and promoting entrepreneurship. The monthly honor is given to an individual who has consistently demonstrated in both word and deed a commitment to the U.S. small business and entrepreneurial sector.

“Today we honor a special individual who has been a true leader in promoting the interests of small business owners. Jim always says that small business owners are his heroes, and his daily work on and off the air is testament to his respect and commitment to our job creating sector and the critical role they play in our economy. Jim is the small business owner’s best friend,” remarked SBE Council President & CEO Karen Kerrigan in presenting Jim with his award during National Small Business Week at SBA Expo ’05

Jim is creator and host of the nationally syndicated radio/Internet talk show, The Small Business Advocate. For over 7 years, he has tirelessly worked to inform small business owners and entrepreneurs on how to improve their businesses. Jim has conducted over 4,000 live interviews with experts and entrepreneurs including many with Ms. Kerrigan – a founding ‘Brain Trust’ member of his show.

In addition to his syndicated radio/Internet show, Jim is President and founder of Small Business Network, Inc. and a best-selling author. Jim has also been recognized as one of the 30 most influential people in America representing small business, according to Fortune Small Business magazine. Blasingame was the only broadcaster and the only member outside-the-Beltway to make it on the list.

In being named Small Business Advocate of the Month, Jim will be featured on the SBE Council’s website. In addition, his and accomplishments and photo will be included in the organization’s “Small Business Hall of Fame.”"
